The Equilibrium of Faith

For the sake of discussion, I'm going to operationally define faith as belief in something with out elaborate and accurate evidence of its truth--as though it were belief without proof. Having said that, I think it's impossible for us to live without faith. Without it, I think it would be unlikely to progress. On one end of the Equilibrium of Faith is complete understanding--facts and truths. Its opposite is complete ignorance, and together they make up the opposite forces of this... Read Full Story

The Equilibrium of People

The Equilibrium, which can be found here: http://adam237.blogspot.com/2009/08/equilibrium_9613.html is my major philosophy in my religion, and this is an example of The Equilibrium in practice. My thoughts on people differ from the great speakers of the subject, but at the same time, they are certainly the same, and my wants are equal: people deserve better than what they have -- all of us. I've become aware that people are paradoxical. Some have 'this' personality, while others have 'that... Read Full Story

The Bible And Science

Whether many think it true or not, the facts is the bible shows or manifests many scientific proofs and facts. These were all written down before telescopes or radios came were invented. In fact many could not read or write; let alone use sciencetific reasoning to infer or guess at the nature of the universe or it's complexities. Astronomy: The Bible frequently refers to the great number of stars in the heavens. Here are two examples. Genesis 22:17  Blessing I will bless you, and multiplying... Read Full Story

ISAIAH THE PROPHET

Isaiah Throws Down A Challenge In the year 700 BC there was no electricity, no computers and no real advancements in scientific knowledge. "Who among them can show us the former things? Tell us the things still to come so that we may know that you are Gods” – Isaiah 43 Scientific Knowledge in the Book of Isaiah Isaiah stated the earth is round in 700 BC. - He sits upon the circle of the earth – Isaiah 30 The universe is constantly expanding. E.Hubble proved this 2,600 some odd years later... Read Full Story

‘Missing link’ primate likely to stir debate

A discovery of a 47 million-year-old fossil primate that is said to be a human ancestor was announced and unveiled Tuesday at a press conference in New York City. Known as "Ida," the nearly complete transitional fossil is 20 times older than most fossils that provide evidence for human evolution. It shows characteristics from the very primitive non-human evolutionary line (prosimians, such as lemurs), but is more related to the human evolutionary line (anthropoids, such as monkeys, apes and... The Metaphysical Link between CONSCIOUSNESS & GOD

Various god conscious men and women have lived on this earth at different points of time. All had the SAME things to say. If only the inner meaning of what they said would be analyzed the world would not be in such a mess. RELIGION is created by common mans interpretations. Interpretations based on the WORDS of the god realized person. And HE was always grossly misunderstood. No one blames the interpreter because he never saw through the eyes or mind of the realized one. All the REALIZED... Read Full Story

Bryan Appleyard and creationism

British journalist Bryan Appleyard continues to use The Sunday Times newspaper as a platform for pro-religious campaigning. Today he excels himself with an article on Darwin and natural selection which quotes, without reproach, Dr David Menton of Answers in Genesis , and David Rosevear, chairman of the British Creation Science Movement . Appleyard also quotes the anti-evolutionary opinions of James Le Fanu, (a medical doctor and journalist, no less): [Le Fanu] insists that new biological... Read Full Story

life on mars?

From:  bibledude.net
When we think about the possibility alien life, we usually think about life that comes from a planet in some distant system or other galaxy. But imagine that the one of the planets closest to us had a whole population of other life forms on it. Imagine a completely different race of “people” living there…   so close to home… Well one of the more popular discussions in science these days is around the possibility of “life” on Mars. The Phoenix Mars Lander (pictured here) is sending... Read Full Story

Near-death experiences

Christian author Bryan Appleyard writes an article for The Sunday Times which argues that near-death experiences (NDEs) are evidence that the mind can be separated from the brain, and there actually is an afterlife. Bryan refers to the "consistency and clarity of these [NDE] reports across cultures and time zones," which is misleading, not only because people of different religions see different religious figures in NDEs, but as Carol Zaleski detailed , "through her comparative studies of... The tree of life?

The tree of life , it seems, is no more than a first approximation, and must be supplanted by the web of life . This week's New Scientist contains a fascinating article which explains that, due to horizontal gene transfer, the evolution of life does not necessarily possess a tree-like, branching structure, but can also contain horizontal links, when different species exchange genetic material, and loops when two different species coalesce. The structure of living species, then, is not so... Read Full Story
