A community portal about Science fiction with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: Science fiction is a popular genre of fiction in which the narrative world differs from our own present or historical reality in at least one significant way. This difference may be technological, physical, historical, sociological, philosophical, metaphysical, etc, but not magical. Exploring the consequences of such differences is the traditional purpose of science fiction, but there are also many science-fiction works in which an exotically alien setting is superimposed upon what would not otherwise be a science-fiction tale. It is commonly used to refer to fictional worlds more technologically advanced than present-day earth.
SPACENOODLES.COM: HANK CURCI WRITES THE ELECTRONIC JUNGLE AND SELF INDUCED EXTINCTION….THERE IS NO FREE LUNCH ON PLANET EARTH OR OUTER SPACE….EVERYTHING HAS A PRICE…
In WWW.SPACENOODLES.COM, we see the popular SCIFI short story titled
ROMAN HONEYMOON, CIRCA 3000 AD
http://www.powells.com/cgi-bin/biblio?inkey=91-9780975919965-0
by noted SCIFI author, Hank Curci.
In the year 3000AD, Hank writes that all corporeal life forms, like human beings, will have received artificial internal organs ,via synthetic genetics, to extend life, life that has extinguished the human being via SELF INDUCED EXTINCTION.
Then finally the entire human genome is mapped and all life is reduced to an incredibly complex electromagnetic chip about the size of a human thumbnail generating a mind far advanced than the human brain’s capacity.
These chips are serviced by an attending mainframe computer also of great complexity and up till now the mainframes have obediently catered to the chips every wish and whim.
To escape the jungle of terrible wars and carnage on the surface of their home world, the chips built a beautiful orbiting city and called it Orbit City.
They lived in peach and harmony in Orbit City circling 200 miles above their home planet… and the peace and prosperity lasted for over 500 years.
Then one day the attending mainframe computers began to evolve their own intellectual thought and not only refused to blindly service the chips but began to destroy their life’s essence stored in each mainframe thus creating a jungle of quite a different character than that found on their waring planet surface.
The chips finally escape the clutches of the now militant mainframes and regenerate their old android bodies and return to Orbit City living, loving and creating beautiful works of art and music.
Their attempt to escape the rigors of planetary life did not work for they found themselves trading a surface jungle for an electronic jungle.
For in the final analysis everything has a price….THERE IS NO FREE LUNCH…
