My, how time does fly! It seems like 2007 just began, and here it is 2008 already. With the first day of this new year falling on a Tuesday, I felt it only appropriate that Baby New Year himself help us ring January 1, 2008 in with style on this Too Hot Tuesday!! Spinner reports that Scissor Sisters' Jake Shears has been hard at work on a set of tunes for a musical version of Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City . Spinner reports: "Since his pal, Jeff Whitty, sent him a note asking him what he thought of the books a year ago, Shears has been coming up with ideas and melodies. 'Over a year ago, I got a note from him saying, 'What do you think of 'Tales of the City?' I'm crazy about 'Tales!' I grew up on the books,' Shears enthuses. 'They were a big part of my teenager-hood. They're just great, great ... Read Full Story

A new LP from Scissor Sisters seemed imminent when the band started playing secret gigs comprised of 75% new material . That was October and it’s been pretty quiet since, save for random studio blips on site . This will change in March with the release of SS’s third LP and its first single, “a really epic song that makes you feel really good.” This info comes via an interview Jake Shears did with Pop Justice (via Fluxtumblr ). It gets more promising: Continue reading Jake Shears Talks New Scissor Sisters Album… A new LP from Scissor Sisters seemed imminent when the band started ... Read Full Story

In addition to the production-intent CR-Z concept, Honda's bringing a minivan concept to the Tokyo Motor Show called the Honda Skydeck. With gimmicks galore like sliding and scissor doors, the coolest thing's the interior. Take a gander above or below. The Skydeck's obviously a hybrid. We mean, come on, this is a concept car at the Tokyo Motor Show. But the story's not in the powertrain or the exterior design — this is a people moving concept...

Back before grunge and rap rock washed over the world of rock music, altering it forever, there was an outpost – below a mainstream dominated by hair metal groups and boy bands – of late-’80s, early-’90s artists who performed well-crafted, unadorned melodic rock. My place's previous tenant built and left a storage loft, which I have been accessing with a ladder for the past year (another reason why I was looking at this fascinating telescoping ladder). But it's difficult carrying heavy boxes up a ladder, and as the loft sat mostly unused while stuff piled up underneath it, I realized I was going to have to build a staircase. The problem is that stairs take up a lot of space, and I had a hard time...
