December 12th is the date that Scott Derrickson’s The Day the Earth Stood Still remake will hit cinemas here in the UK. It stars Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly, and John Cleese amongst others, and with its budget of roughly $80 million; this film should be something really rather special. The Day the Earth Stood Still  is a  2008   science fiction film , a  remake  of the  1951 film of the same name . Directed by  Scott Derrickson  and starring  Keanu Reeves  as  Klaatu , and Jaden Smith, the film updates  Cold War  themes like  nuclear warfare  to the more contemporary issue of man's environmental damage to the planet.
