Transcripts of conference calls by the Bengals' Marvin Lewis and Carson Palmer with Jets reporters Tuesday morning: HEAD COACH MARVIN LEWIS On how different the team will be this Saturday… We have to go and play better football. Larry Johnson might get to revive his troubled career with a team known for giving second chances. Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said on Monday that Johnson would be in Cincinnati to discuss a limited role -- fourth-string running back, essentially an insurance policy in case Cedric Benson's hip injury gets worse or another running back gets hurt.

The Geoffrey Pope experience is no more. Pope, in his second year with 12 career games under his belt, was signed to the Philadelphia Eagles' 53-man roster, writes Jason at Bleeding Green Nation. Pope, typically a third or fourth cornerback when the secondary sustained injuries, is the second Bengals player taken off the practice squad in the past month. Chris Pressley was pulled from the Bengals practice squad onto Tampa Bay's 53-man roster...

While the Bengals weren't happy enough to keep Fui Vakapuna on the team's 53-man roster in early September, they've signed him to the team's 53-man roster on Tuesday. However, that's yet to be announced as of this post, but his agent confirmed nonetheless. That left the Bengals with 54 guys on the roster, which is, you know, bad. To make room, the Bengals elected to terminated "the contract of long-time backup offensive lineman Scott Kooistra...

When the Bengals put Chris Henry on Injured Reserve, there was some speculation on what the team could do, which largely depended on what they wanted to do at wide receiver. Do they find a replacement? Do they restock the position after Andre Caldwell? Instead, they re-signed utility offensive lineman Scott Kooistra, giving the Bengals a full 53-man roster. Kooistra is expected to earn $620,000 in 2009. However, with Henry out for the year...

First off, a classic.   Benson has 36 carries? He doesn't care. He'll just run it down your throat... again... and again... and again. Bengals Release Veteran Offensive Lineman Scott Kooistra was with Bengals for like 7 years. Seems he didn't start at all but stuck around with them for that long. Looking through Bengals blogs it seems he was an extremely versatile guy and a really good back up. Although sometimes had injury problems. It's an option for us this season but doesn't sound that exciting.
