So I finally picked up and thumbed through Scott McClellan’s book “What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington’s Culture of Deception” . Of course, we all know that Scott McClellan is a former White House Press Secretary. I was fully prepared to be disappointed as I didn’t believe this book was worth reading. As it turns out, I was right! Everyone knows that the job of White House Press Secretary can be best described by the 1997 movie title “ the man who knew too little “. It is, for the most part, not the function of key cabinet members to keep ... Read Full Story

D.L. Hugley has a new gig at CNN (basically my dream job), and one of his first guests is former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan who says he has decided to vote for Democrat Barack Obama. McClellan worked under George W. Bush's administration before he quit and heavily criticized the president for his actions in Iraq. "From the very beginning I have said I am going to support the candidate that has the best chance for changing the way Washington works and getting things done and I will be voting for Barack Obama and clapping," McClellan told Hughley. You can catch the full ... Read Full Story

Former Bush press secretary Scott McClellan tells CNN host D.L. Hughley ( D.L. Hughley ??!!) that he’s voting for Barack Obama. From the very beginning I have said I am going to support the candidate that has the best chance for changing the way Washington works and getting things done and I will be voting for Barack Obama and clapping. Seems to me as if the real PUMA-ism is happening in the Republican Party. Read Full Story

“Congress never could keep any matter strictly confidential; someone always babbled”- John Jay, agent of America’s diplomatic affaires, frustrated that the Congress consisted of too many members to keep America’s most vital secrets (circa 1784). I will write my senator and congressmen and urge them to introduce a bill to post John Jay's statement in every representative's office. Yeah, right...as if that move would prevent leaks...perhaps Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Scooter Libbey and Bob Novak should receive complimentary plaques...from the CIA. Just kidding...I think! Actually, a little humor is needed to get through all of this. The IC, especially the CIA, has always been ... Read Full Story

It's been a while since we checked on Rosie O'Donnell's blog, one of the sites we like to surf in our free time. Rosie's readers write in about nearly every significant current event going on, and our latest visit proved no different. We always find gems of information there. Scott McClellan testified on Friday that former White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card told him, per President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, that McClellan was to publicly say that Lewis Scooter Libby was not involved in the leak of CIA operative Valerie Plame. Read Full Story

In his 2008 book ''What Happened,'' then-deputy press secretary Scott McClellan will write that at this time, the covert "campaign to undermine [former ambassador] Joe Wilson's credibility as a critic of the White House's use of intelligence to bolster the case for war was beginning." McClellan will write that the decision to keep President Bush "out of the loop" on the Wilson propaganda offensive was a deliberate decision made by top Bush...

ABC News Radio journalist Ann Compton has a brief, informal discussion with White House deputy press secretary Scott McClellan. When Compton asks about the as-yet-undiscovered Iraqi WMD, McClellan, as he later recalls, "repeat[ed] the White House's standard position of the time which I shared: 'We believe that weapons of mass destruction will eventually be found. The inspectors are still in the early stages of their work.'" McClellan is "a bit...

According to deputy press secretary Scott McClellan, the White House is in the midst of a large and widespread effort to manipulate public opinion in favor of the impending invasion of Iraq. Writing in 2008, McClellan will note: "[President] Bush and the White House were engaging in a carefully orchestrated campaign to shape and manipulate sources of public approval to our advantage. We'd done much the same on other issues--tax cuts and...

In 2008, Scott McClellan, the current White House deputy press secretary, will write of President Bush's lowering of accepted standards to allow for a pre-emptive war. McClellan will write: "Bush was now lowering the bar for engaging in pre-emptive war, a step that might have been more widely viewed as radical had it occurred prior to 9/11. The [Bush] doctrine unambiguously stated that while the United States would always proceed deliberately...
