Robin Wright Penn at the Cannes Film Festival, sans estranged husband Sean Penn.As wife Robin Wright Penn partied in Cannes, where she's serving as a juror for the presitgous film fest, news broke that Sean Penn has decided to call backsies (we believe that's the legal term) on seperation papers he filed against his wife in April.

The New York Daily News discovered the news from court filings. Speaking to the Daily News, Penn seemed to be feeling some regrets, telling the paper:
It was an arrogant mistake. Of course, the coulpe is an old hand at reversing divorce preceedings at this point. In December of 2007, Penn filed for divorce, and yanked the proceedings four months later. This time it was barely a over a month before he hit the brakes. It's amazing to watch a couple's love grow like that.

No word on whether Robin Wright Penn will actually agree to halt the proceedings.
