The trial date for four of the five men charged with the killing of Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor has been postponed for a third time. The new date is Jan. 18, 2010, The Washington Post reported this morning. The trial was scheduled to begin this month. "We don't think there will realistically be a trial before next spring," Terry Chavez, the Miami-Dade state attorney's office spokesperson, told The Post. Police said Taylor was a victim of a botched robbery when he was shot in his bedroom on Nov. 26, 2007, in the Miami suburb of Palmetto Bay. He died of massive blood loss ... Read Full Story

(Suspects are Venjah Hunte, 20, Eric Rivera, 17, Charles Wardlow, 18, and Jason Scott Mitchell, 19; names not listed in order of photograph) By now the media has made sure to inform us all of the tragic death of Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor. I wanted desperately to weigh in last week, but I chose not to, because I hoped that his death wouldn't be as black and white as the media and other pundits made it to be. It was and it wasn't. Most wanted to blame Taylor's past exploits for his tragic end. It seemed pretty simple right? You live by the ... Read Full Story

Venjah Hunte, who pleaded guilty to avoid a possible life sentence in the killing of Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor now wants to back out of the deal, his attorney said today. Hornung said he disagrees with Hunte's desire to withdraw his guilty plea, and that Hunte will appear in court Thursday in Miami to ask for a new court-appointed lawyer. "There's a difference in the philosophy going forward," Hornung said. "His desire is to have an attorney appointed so that he can withdraw from ... Read Full Story

It's something you want to forget, but take a moment to remember Sean Taylor.  The former Reskins safety was a promising young man and a rising star who was painfully snatched from his friends and family two years ago today. Taylor emerged as the hard hitting face of the Washington Redskins defense, supplanting LaVar Arrington in that role. The whole sports community has had different reactions to the news of Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry's death. Most have had the decent courtesy to respect Chris Henry as a person, and loving father of three. But some have referred to him as "just another thug." Whatever the circumstances are surrounding his dispute and death with fiancee Loleini Tonga, nothing takes away from the fact that a man lost his life and left behind a huge family...
