Segolene Royal , the defeated presidential candidate, is a woman who isn't afraid to speak her mind. Recently she accused President Sarkozy and his wealthy friends of attempting a "take-over" of France. Her concern is understandable. In the last two surveys published by IPSOS and IFOP before a midnight ban, Mr Sarkozy, who heads the ruling Union for a Popular Movement (UMP), was credited with 30 and 28 per cent of Sunday's vote, followed by Ms Royal on 23 and 22.5 per cent.
