WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Claire McCaskill says a Senate move to embrace the tough anti-abortion language in a House version of health care legislation must be defeated. McCaskill language in the bill now on the Senate floor retains long-standing policy prohibiting federal funds for abortion — and that's sufficient. The Missouri Democrat told CBS's "The Early Show" Monday she believes an amendment by Nebraska Democrat Ben Evans...

The vote for socialized medicine taken in the middle of the night with 60 Democrat senators voting for our enslavement and the enslavement of our children is final proof that the Democrat party does not have one, not one, honest and decent man or woman. WASHINGTON — Senators are awaiting new cost estimates on the latest overhaul proposal from Majority Leader Harry Reid. The Congressional Budget Office is expected to release its analysis this week on the revised bill's cost, and one senator says she "absolutely" would vote "no" if the overhaul increased out-of-pocket costs for people and drove up the nation's red ink. The Republican from Missouri, who was defeated by Claire McCaskill, a Democrat, is working in particular on issues such as national security and military preparedness, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported last week. January 25, 2008 "I deeply regret that Governor Blunt has decided not to run for reelection. He is a personal friend who turned around the state's budget and created a climate of growth and opportunity throughout Missouri. Since the Governor's announcement, I have received numerous inquiries from friends around the state about my interest in the Governor's race. However, in the expectation that I would not be seeking office in 2008, I have made commitments to my family, to the Romney for President campaign, and to other professional activities. I cannot reconcile running for Governor now with those commitments. I am honored by the ... Read Full Story
