Here are some of the grim facts; 2,200 veterans die each year because they lack health insurance. One in four veterans is homeless. As many as 250,000 veterans will not have a roof over their heads at some time during the next calendar year. There is an omnibus bill in the Senate that will provide aid to some of these veterans, and their families and their caregivers. One man in the United States Senate is holding the bill up. He is being opposed by every American veteran's advocacy group. And this man is a medical school graduate, and still practices family medicine. His name ... Read Full Story

So how does a the right to carry a loaded gun in a National Park affect your credit? Well, let me tell ya: That credit card reform bill is slightly endangered by another bill attached do it that has nothing to do with it. That’s right – you getting relief from the unscrupulous actions of the credit card companies could depend on some idiots right to carry a loaded gun in a National Park and wildlife refuges (which doesn’t event remotely make sense – because, really you are not allowed or supposed to shoot anything in those places anyway. They are to be protected ... Read Full Story

Although I suppose it is better than the antics of Tom Foley, Senator Tom Coburn uses pizza to lure interns into his office to discuss abstinence and homosexuality. And he wishes a lot more of this sort of thing was going on in Oklahoma. Although at first glance it seems unlikely, Oklahoma is in a state of lesbian debauchery. So says Tom Coburn . What is the proof that Oklahoma has become so Lebanese? Tom Coburn knows. It seems lesbianism is “so rampant in some of the schools in southeast Oklahoma that they’ll only let one girl go to the bathroom.” School officials are ... Read Full Story

Senator Tom Coburn has successfully blocked the ALS Registry Legislation that passed the House by an overwhelming margin and enjoys rare bipartisan co-sponsorship by 74 of his Senate colleagues. It is hard to believe that one individual can hold this legislation hostage but it is true. It sure should scare all citizens that this can be so. Over 500 ALS patients will attend the ALS Association National Advocacy and Public Policy Conference in Washington, D.C., next week where most of them will visit their Congressional legislations. While in Washington all of the conference attendees will band together in a candle light ceremony to remember ... Read Full Story

Democrats are trying to get the ethics committee to censure Senator Tom Coburn in retaliation for his hard line against spending. What great breach of ethics is Coburn committing? The crime of traveling from Washington back to his home state of Oklahoma every weekend to deliver babies for free . Sen. Coburn is also Dr. Coburn and has maintained his medical practice while serving as a U.S. Senator. He accepts no payment for his medical services, and spends tens of thousands of dollars out of his own pocket for medical malpractice insurance and other expenses. Coburn believes in being a “citizen legislator” and plans ... Read Full Story

Here’s an important question to ask this Veteran’s Day: What does U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn really think about the troops? Well, apparently, not much. Coburn has placed one of his infamous holds on the Veterans' Caregiver and Omnibus Health Benefits Act of 2009, which is a major veteran’s health bill. Coburn, often described as “Dr. No,” has indicated he believes the bill’s costs need to be matched by cuts elsewhere. In other words, it’s okay to...
