Bill Frist and Trent Lott were once close – "close" being a relative term in politics – but that bond was broken in the cold days of December 2002 when Lott was forced step aside and allow Frist to become majority leader. Remember Lott's comments ...

Update: G-Men raid Trent Lott’s Brother-in-law’s law firm. The FBI confirmed this morning that a search warrant had been executed at the law firm headed by high-profile attorney Richard “Dickie” Scruggs, who successfully sued Big Tobacco and has represented hundreds of policyholders suing insurance companies over Katrina damage. FBI agents were barring all but employees from the office Tuesday during the ongoing search, which has been ongoing since 10:30 this morning. Agents are searching for a specific document that is “ancillary” to Hurricane Katrina insurance litigation. ———————————- Leave it to Trent Lott to not just retire and be done with it. BY MICHAEL LINN JONES So Senator Trent Lott is resigning before the end of the year. What an odd bit of timing, I first thought. But, silly 'ole me. I have to be educated the hard way about how Washington really works. My first reaction was: do voters have a CLUE as to how the future-soon-to-be-former senator will get along? I know that the rumor mill started off immediately with a bit about some kind of gay escort service and all that. As if that is a scandal compared to what is going to happen. Congressional salaries/pensions/etc. are a scam; a sham, and a ... Read Full Story

If the Huffington Post is to be believed, we can sound the "all clear" regarding the scurrilous rumors of Senator Trent Lott (R-MS) having had a relationship with a male escort, one "Benjamin Nicholas." A San Antonio-based gay male escort categorically denied Monday that outgoing GOP Sen. Trent Lott had ever procured his services, putting to bed one of the more stunning rumors to emerge following Lott's announcement earlier in the day that he was leaving Congress. The charge was first published by the Washington DC blog Big Head DC , which claimed to have emails where the escort, Benjamin Nicholas, allegedly playing coy, ... Read Full Story

There are no tears in my eyes with the sudden announcement that the last of the three horseman for President Bush is leaving public service. He is following in the well respected footsteps of our first horsemen of shame, Tom Delay who never saw anything illegal and you or any court can not prove it. Then of course Trent Lott is also following in the footsteps of shame of former Speaker of the House Denny Hastert, the second horsemen of shame who pretended that a congressional representative (Mark Foley) affection for boy pages was nothing to really worry about. Trent Lott was nothing more ... Read Full Story

Why in the world would he suddenly resign like that? What do you think?!  Is a scandal brewing?? PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi Sen.
