You may have noticed this new symbol on blogs and in comments across the web: ✈ ▌▌ It's a clear reference to the tragedy of September 11th. The symbol represents an airplane about to crash into twin towers. Wikipedia offers a great synopsis of the events of 9/11/2001: The September 11 attacks (often referred to as nine-eleven, written 9/11) were a series of coordinated suicide attacks by al-Qaeda upon the United States on September 11, 2001. It began as a normal Tuesday morning.  I was driving to work listening to WFAN radio out of New York.  Before "nappy headed ho's" entered his vocabulary, Imus was doing his morning schtick.  It started out with a report of a plane crash into one of the World Trade Center buildings.  It was 8:46 a.m.  A small plane was the likely culprit they said although with a crystal clear morning, no one could figure out why.  Then they brought on one time sports guy Warner Wolf who was in his apartment and described a scene that had to be more than just a small ... I was in my driveway trying to get my car to start so I could go to work. I was late. Again.
