Forty-one years ago Saturday, Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first human in space.

On Saturday April 12th, nearly 200 parties around the globe will celebrate the anniversary of the first manned space flight. Dubbed Yuri's Night, after Yuri Gagarin, the Russian Cosmonaut who made the historic voyage on in 1961, the annual celebration is now in it's eighth year.

Today is the 47th anniversary of the flight of Yuri Gagarin, the first human to orbit the Earth.

Today may not have any importance for you, but others find it a significant anniversary and a chance to celebrate a somewhat unlikely hero: Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin.
