A young slum dweller has latched on to Madonna during her recent trip to Rio de Janeiro to raise funds for her charities. The boy, Morro Dona Marta, stood out for his bright blonde hair. He was shirtless and sought to speak with Madonna in person and lifted himself up a staircase when the superstar was talking to the Rio provincial governor, Sérgio Cabral. He apparently amused Madonna because she reportedly laughed when he offered his services to her as a tour guide. But in one photo she appeared covering her face and slightly embarrassed. Bullets flying from the Morro dos Macacos ("Monkey Hill" in Portuguese) slum in northern Rio de Janeiro tore into the helicopter and hit the pilot in the leg as he hovered above the shootout, causing him to lose control and crash. Two officers died, while the pilot and three other policemen escaped after the craft hit the ground on a football field and burst into flames.
