I'm going to make an argument here that will likely be unpopular. Let me draw that caveat first that I am of the belief that bipolar disorder is genetic and often an issue with brain chemistry. However, Bipolar Disorder and ADHD for that matter are often misdiagnosed and at those times may not be issues in brain chemistry. However, one thing seems clear to me, the cycles that get exacerbated when getting stuck in the cycle's of bipolar...

(Asking for a friend) Any pointers to a good psychiatrist for bipolar disorder in the LA area? My friend was diagnosed with bipolar II a bit less than a year ago. She tried a couple of drugs for it, but they had too-severe side effects and she stopped after a couple of weeks. Since then she's been managing pretty well without drugs, but recognizes that things could be better, and is now willing to give it another go. The psychiatrist that...

In November, a federal judge recommended that as many as 6,000 lawsuits against drug giant AstraZeneca for the ill effects of the company’s anti-psychotic Seroquel should be returned to their home state courts for trial. Seroquel, the company’s second-best selling drug with annual sales of $4.45 billion, is notorious for the company’s cover-up of data from clinical trials showing potentially harmful effects from the drug, including diabetes...

It wasn't too long ago that Bipolar Disorder was the flavor of the day among physicians, therapists, and educators. However, the danger of this is that it can be overdiagnosed. It seems to me that often times there is a rubber band effect with diagnoses, meaning that they are often over-diagnosed and then eventually swing back to the center. You might be diagnosed with bipolar disorder if you came in presenting with difficulty sleeping...

Anthony Michael Hall has snagged headlines a number of times here in November, but not for his acting or producing skills. Rather he has been accused of domestic violence from a row with his girlfriend (now ex), Diana Falzone, who has filed a restraining order against him. As I often remind my kids, if we lose our temper or control, we are responsible for our actions regardless of our intentions. A fact I am sure no one needs to tell Michael...
