Pineapple Express Review

Pineapple Express goes from “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” to “Baretta” (70s cop show with lots of bullets and funky mood music) as fast as you can say “weed”. Just when you think you have a good grasp, the story changes costumes and you’re watching “Harold and Kumar”. No matter what was happening, though, it was still really funny.

I liked Franco in this movie so much more than his hardly convincing roles as the Green Goblin in the Spiderman movies. He may have finally found his calling. Seth Rogan is, well, Seth Rogan. There is no difference between this character, his policeman role in Superbad, or even the pot head in The 40 Year Old Virgin. He still made me laugh, but go ahead and toss him in the one-trick pony pile. Be sure not to wake Will Ferrel.

The rest of the cast does a good job delivering on a script that is ok. The story was kind of weak, but I was laughing almost the whole way through. I am strangely attracted to this movie. It’s like checking to see if a 9 volt battery is still good. It’s not the most fun thing to do, but when the battery shocks your tongue you can help but to giggle.
