The band originally comprised vocalist Johnny Rotten, guitarist Steve Jones, drummer Paul Cook and bassist Glen Matlock. Although their initial career lasted only three years and produced only four singles and one studio album, the Sex Pistols have been described by the BBC as "the definitive English punk rock band." The Pistols are widely credited with initiating the punk movement in the United Kingdom and creating the first generation gap within rock and roll.
This week marks the 30th anniversary of the death of Sid Vicious, who was the bass guitarist for the Sex Pistols. [God, I feel really, really old]. He died of a heroin overdose on February 1, 1979—the same night he was released on bail from Riker’s Island. He’d spent 55 days there after being charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen, who died of a single stab wound to the abdomen and bled to death on the floor of their room at the Chelsea Hotel .

The Sex Pistols are reuniting for a concert to mark the 30th anniversary of their only album, "Never Mind the Bollocks." Thirty-three years on after the early glory days of the Sex Pistols , original Pistols bassist Glen Matlock is still rockin' it out. I like that. Glen Matlock is rockin' out tonight (Monday) in London on his own. Solo, it says. Is that Glen and an acoustic guitar? Or Glen and a combo? We'll have to read the blogs to find out later this week.
