If you are looking for a tubal ligation reversal doctor, you will want to look at several different things to help you determine which is the right one for you. Along with patient satisfaction ratings, you will want to look at cost, training and staff. We will go over a few of these things below.

Perhaps the first thing most women consider is cost. You will find that prices can vary from about $3500 to $30,000 for this operation. However, this is not necessarily a case of you get what you pay for. You will find that the premiere doctors in the world can actually cost less than your local physician. This can be due to several factors. Don't think a less expensive price tag reflects a less experienced surgeon. Usually the opposite is the case.

Next you may want to look into your surgeon's training and experience. Where and under who did he go to school and train? How many surgeries has he done? Don't be afraid to ask for this information from any doctor you are considering. What type of statistics does he provide from his own surgeries?

Of course, your doctor doesn't do everything for you by himself. He has support people including office staff, nurses, anesthesiologists, and surgical technicians. Do you know anything about these people or can you find out? Do the ones you talk with answer your questions politely? Do you even get answers to your questions?

You will also want to know how other women feel about the service they have received. Patient satisfaction can be a big factor in your search. How do you find this out? First, you may want to search for a message board or some other provided means of contacting future and past patients. If this doctor does not have a message board, does he have some other way for you to talk to other patients? Are there testimonials?

There are other ways to learn about patient satisfaction than just a message board on his own site. You could go to websites that allow you and others to rate doctors. One such is RateMDs.com. You can search on the individual doctor or by category of doctor. In your case, if you already have a list of possibles, enter the individual's name. I don't think any doctor with more than just a handful of ratings is going to rate well with every patient. You need to find out if there is an overall theme, though. Do most like this doctor and the care they obtained? Doctors are people, too, and will not always be 100%, no matter how much they wish they were.

Look at how many comments are posted. Do a lot of people rate this surgeon highly? If there are a lot of comments made, chances are the surgeon is really good or really bad to encourage that many comments and ratings. And don't look at just the number of comments and the overall rating. If you did a search for tubal ligation reversal, be sure any doctors that come up actually have a fair number of comments dealing with that procedure.

Look, too, at the testimonials on the surgeon's website. He does have a website where you can review his surgery statistics and learn more about this procedure, doesn't he? If not, that just might be a sign there. Most websites are only going to include glowing reports but it is another place you can read the patient satisfaction stories.
