The latest in a series of song histories based on the classic tunes in the video game The Beatles: Rock Band... this one may be the title track from the most famous album of all time, but it wasn't even written when the album's recording began, and it wasn't part of a medley yet, either! There has been man praises for the recently released Beatles remastered catalog. I pre - orderd the set from Amazon, and I have no real disappointments with the collection, but it doesn't give the joy as the originals on vinyl. My Beatles records have been put up for years. I had a bulky Emerson all in one stereo system, which I got when I wasn't in the fourth grade, which had a turntable and 8-track tape player on it. You might remember these? They had the long spindle that you could stack records on, and they would drop a record when a record was ...

One of three LP/CDs by the Beatles among my all-time top ten, along with “Rubber Soul” and “Revolver”. Though not my personal favorite, this recording is essential in any collection of pop/rock recordings. It has been, since its release, a standard by which others are measured. It also marks the high-water mark of the Beatles creativity as a band. After “Sgt. Pepper…” came a directionless time during which the “Magical Mystery Tour” and “Yellow Submarine” records were released, followed by the period the band’s breakdown, as chronicled in the “White Album”, “Let It Be” and “Abbey Road”. Though these latter efforts contained plenty of ...

I think because of the massive amount of attention that is given to this album’s so called “historical significance” that sometimes not enough attention is given to the music itself. I hope to correct that imbalance with this review which focuses entirely on the album’s 13 tracks. 01. “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” – This opening track really sets the mood for the entire album. The song shifts styles abruptly just like the album does from song to song. And of course the crowd noise and the entire “Sgt. Pepper” concept are introduced here. 02. “With a Little Help from my Friends” – ...
