I'm a huge football fan in general, but I've always had an especially big interest in high school ball. You can probably blame it on growing up in western Pennsylvania. I know I'm not the only one that still watches the WPIAL and PIAA championship games on TV despite graduating high school a while ago. One thing I always wanted to do was map out which state all of the current Steelers played their high school football at (I'm also really into maps!). As boring as the lockout can be, it at...Read Full Story
Phil Dawson is one of the Browns that did not show up to OTAs this week. No surprise really. Dawson has been upset about money off and on for a couple years at least. Dawson has been a solid kicker for the Browns, but in the end, we are talking about a 35 year-old guy that played in only 11 games last year hitting 17 of 19 field goals. Yes, we like Dawson. Yes, we probably want him back. I don’t think anyone is going to get all uptight if the Browns and Dawson can’t seem to get...Read Full Story
A couple of veteran place kickers, Shayne Graham and Shaun Suisham were in for a visit and tryout with the Pats, as Stephen Gostkowski isn’t exactly having a great season with the club.
Gostkowski is just 4-of-7 in field goal attempts, though he is coming off a 2-for-2 night in the Pats’ 41-14 romp over Miami. His kickoffs, however, have been excellent, with 10 touchbacks on the season, including five on Monday night.
Graham was cut by the Ravens just before the season, losing a preseason...Read Full Story
Today Steeler Nation bids farewell to their second-leading scorer in franchise history, trailing only Gary Anderson. We all have opinions about Jeffrey Montgomery Reed, most of them negative, but he still deserves recognition for what he has done with this franchise.
Reed had been known as "Mr. Dependable" at time during his career, making a name for himself by kicking field goals at Heinz Field for his entire career. It used to be that #3 would trot onto the field for a guaranteed 3 points...Read Full Story
If you haven’t heard, former Steeler kicker Jeff Reed is unemployed no more, as the 49ers have signed him to fill in for the recently-injured Joe Nedney.
Reed was released by the Steelers after missing seven of 22 field goal attempts this season.
“I was a little dejected when it happened and I still kind of have questions about it, but that’s old news now,” Reed told the San Francisco Chronicle.
Questions? All I know is he had not hit a kick between 40 and 49 yards all season, and the...Read Full Story

"The guy is a winner. That's all you need to say." SHAUN SUISHAM vs. MATT PRATER Granted, Matt Prater has the luxury of kicking in Colorado's thin air. Still, kicking the ball straight is just as important as kicking it long. This year, Prater has done both.
