The San Francisco 49ers signed kicker Shane Andrus to start the team's season finale Sunday at St. Louis. The Niners (7-8) were forced to make a move because kicker Ricky Schmitt has a left groin injury and regular starter Joe Nedney has been sidelined with a hamstring injury. Schmitt was signed before last week's win over the Detroit Lions.

I debated on making this a fanshot or a fanpost,  but decided on the latter due to the poll options.   I have watched tape on Shawntae Spencer all season long and it appears he is our #1 corner and the closest thing we have to a shutdown guy.  In my opinion he is having a pro bowl caliber season making the coaches decision to start him over Bly look like a no brainer in hindsight.  I am wondering if the coaching staff have had internal...

In no way does 49ers coach Mike Singletary consider Sunday's game at St. Louis a gimmee, even if San Francisco routed the struggling Rams 35-0 in the teams' first meeting nearly three months ago. Yet the Niners should feel good about their chances against St. Louis -- and a win could do much for San Francisco (7-8) as it heads into the offseason after yet another missed trip to the playoffs.  

A week after getting knocked out of playoff contention, the San Francisco 49ers started slowly against Detroit. They put it together in the second half to move one step closer to their only big goal left -- avoiding a seventh straight losing season.
