Lawyers for Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon asked a judge Friday to declare a mistrial in the case in which she was convicted of embezzlement.
Arnold Weiner, Dixon's lead attorney, submitted a 41-page brief that argued at least two jurors lied when questioned before they were selected for the panel, The Baltimore Sun reported. Weiner said five jurors also got in touch with one another during the trial via Facebook.

Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon was convicted Tuesday of a misdemeanor charge of stealing gift cards donated to poor children and families in her city.
After six days of deliberations, jurors in state court returned with a split verdict, The Baltimore Sun reported. Dixon was acquitted of official misconduct and felony theft, while the jury was unable to reach a verdict on a fraudulent misappropriation charge.
