Shepard Fairey | Jaws
Posted by mike | Filed under Art, News

Here we have Shepard Fairey’s rendering of Jaws, no not the large mechanical shark that kept us all out of the ocean for at least 2 weeks as kids, but the wave. Jaws is the name of a big wave surfing break off the coast of Maui. Jaws is one of the premier big wave surfing spots, and scarier then the shark, because this wave gets to 70 feet and moves at 30 mph and is real. If you know Shepard Fairey’s work then the piece above might strike you as something off beat to his style. This piece is definitely a little different in terms of composition in comparison to his other work. But in style you can definitely see it is his work. The overlays of blue in the ripples of water really show his style. Thanks to the giant.org for discovering this piece and showing us a different side of Shepard.
