Everyday Rapture

By jamericardow on  From jamesricardotheactor.blogspot.com
I went to the opening night of the musical, "Everyday Rapture", and it was great to go to an opening night in New York City. I ran into so many friends, and it was night filled with excitement, red carpets, passion and critics. "Everyday Rapture", was basically a scripted one women show, with two background singers, telling the story of the life of Sherie Rene Scott! The writing of this piece was brilliant, and was so funny, but came off to me like a "Don't Tell Mama's" cabaret. It is hard to...Read Full Story

Sherie Rene Scott sings of 'Rapture' semi-stardom

 From ap.org
Sherie Rene Scott to the rescue. Scott and "Everyday Rapture," her deliciously entertaining mini-musical, have arrived on Broadway, an emergency, end-of-season replacement for the Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of "Lips Together, Teeth Apart" which imploded during rehearsals. "Rapture," which opened Thursday at the Roundabout's American Airlines Theatre, fits just fine into a large space, much bigger that off-Broadway's Second Stage Theatre where the production had a successful run last...Read Full Story

Theatre Review: "Everyday Rapture"

By gaysocialites on  From gaysocialites.com
by Jonathan Warman In many ways, Sherie Rene Scott’s Everyday Rapture is a glorified cabaret act — an eclectic selection of songs with more or less autobiographical patter in between, with Scott’s brassy humor and soprano on splendid display throughout. The accent, however, is definitely on the “glorified,” since Scott has brought in a crackerjack creative team (including American Idiot director Michael Mayer) and a full band for this show. Everyday Rapture entwines spirituality and show biz...Read Full Story

Sherie Rene Scott examines a woman's semi-stardom

 From ap.org
Thank goodness for crises of identity and faith. Otherwise, we might never have had the pleasure of Sherie Rene Scott's "Everyday Rapture," the delightful, vaguely autobiographical story of a woman (also named Sherie) and her journey to semi-stardom and spiritual awareness. The show, on view at off-Broadway's Second Stage Theatre, is a touching, tuneful and often hilarious tale, told by Scott in six scenes and punctuated by more than a dozen songs written by the likes of Elton John, Harold...Read Full Story
