Michael Cuddyer's tying three-run homer rescued the Minnesota Twins in the eighth inning, ruining a fine start for Cleveland by Jeremy Sowers in a 6-3 victory over the Indians on Monday night. Sowers stymied the Twins with his jerky left-handed delivery and left with a 3-0 lead after seven innings. Reliever Tony Sipp let the first two batters reach base in the eighth, though, the first coming on an error by shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera. Indians manager Eric Wedge summoned the right-handed Chris Perez to face Cuddyer, who crushed a fastball into the stacks of football seats behind center field. Cuddyer flipped his bat with ... Cleveland Indians out fielder Shin-Soo Choo was 0-for-4 with three strikeouts when he came up to the plate with two on and none out in the 10th inning last night against the Kansas City Royals . "When I got in the batter’s box, I thought they would want me to bunt, but I appreciated they let me hit away," he said. "I saw the birds. I’ve seen them for weeks and been worried maybe 200 of them would be flying and one would get hit when I was trying to field a ball. Then what would I do?" You'd say thank you. The ball ... Cliff Lee won for the first time in more than a month, allowing one run in his second complete game of the season for a 4-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Thursday night. Lee (5-9) hadn't won since a three-hit shutout against St. Louis on June 14, a game in which he took a no-hitter into the eighth inning. The reigning AL Cy Young Award winner had lost three straight starts, thanks mostly to a lack of run support. The Indians have scored three runs or less in 11 of Lee's 20 starts. Grady Sizemore, batting leadoff for the first time since May ... Read Full Story

Cleveland Indians’ right-field Shin-Soo Choo* started the season unknown to most baseball fans. The 26 year-old got 370 plate appearances in 2008, which was by far the most in his career, and put up an impressive .309/.397/.549 line. The former top prospect was given the full-time job going into 2009 despite some worries that he was a “fourth outfielder” or need to be platooned, and Choo ended up having one of the more under-the-radar quality seasons in the majors. I take a look at it at MLB Notebook . An excerpt’s below; click through for the full version . ———————————————————— “Choo had always displayed ... Read Full Story

Shin-Soo Choo homered twice and drove in a career-high seven runs to lead the Cleveland Indians to a 15-3 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Friday night, snapping their five-game losing streak. Choo had an RBI single, two-run double, three-run homer and capped his night with a solo shot, his 12th. It was Choo's second career multihomer game and the most RBIs by a Cleveland player since Grady Sizemore drove in seven Aug. 21 against Kansas City. Cleveland, with the worst record in the AL at 32-49, won for only the third time in 16 games. Asdrubal Cabrera had three RBIs in the Indians' ... Read Full Story

There have been a lot of people who have followed in Rob Neyer's footsteps over the years, but there still isn't anyone better at writing stuff that pisses off mainstream baseball writers: Ryan Howard is pretty good. I mean, he's no Shin-Soo Choo. But pretty good, for sure. You probably think I'm just some snot-nosed blogger trying to make a name for myself. You're right. After all, it's patently ridiculous to suggest that a Cleveland...

BOSTON — Victor Martinez hit a grand slam against his former team and the Boston Red Sox beat the Cleveland Indians 11-6 last night despite a shaky outing by Josh Beckett. After missing his previously scheduled start with back spasms, Beckett (17-6) allowed four runs and seven hits in five innings in his final postseason tuneup. But he's 6-0 in his last eight postseason starts and is in line to start Game 2 of the AL division series Friday at...

I gotta tell you folks, there is not enough love for a guy that saved my fantasy baseball season.  I picked him up on the Waiver Wire in Mid-May when one of my Utility slots opened up, Carlos Delgrado (Carlos Del WHO???) I picked up a Shin-Soo Choo.  It's a guy that no one talks about, but was pretty valuable.  At the time he was batting .286 with 5 HR, 6 SB, 21 Runs, and 23 RBI. All he did when I picked him up in Mid-May was bat .304, go 15...
