As I have said before, the Oakland Raiders are opportunists. By that, I mean that they easily lose at home as they do on the road. Perhaps they were full of themselves when they upset the Philadelphia Eagles last week. Who knows, really? Nonetheless, the Raiders reverted to their normal selves as they accumulated a “whopping” 263 yards of total offense as the visiting New York Jets easily snapped their 3-game losing streak, annihilating Oakland 38-0 at Oakland-Alameda County Stadium. Turnovers hurt the Raiders as they committed four of them – two by quarterback JaMarcus Russell. And as expected, the Jets made hay on ... Read Full Story

Iowa Hawkeyes redshirt freshman running back Adam Robinson likely will miss the rest of the regular season after suffering a high left ankle sprain in Saturday’s win against Michigan State. Robinson has started the past seven games and ranks fourth in the Big Ten in rushing. He registered career highs in both attempts (27) and rushing yards (109) against the Spartans. The loss of Robinson, who has rushed for 629 yards and five touchdowns this season, shrinks what’s already a slim margin of error for the Hawkeyes, who rank 86th in the nation in scoring offense. “There’s a chance we could get him back,” ... Playing the Spoiler Role in 2009 In this years draft you will see teams probably draft Thomas Jones in the first 5 rounds. You may even see teams take a stab at back up runner Leon Washington. But you would be a wise fantasy owner to pay attention to 3rd round rook runner Shonn Greene. Greene had a very good junior year at Iowa posting 307 carries, 1.850 yards and 20 touchdowns. For this season the key stat in those numbers is the 20 touchdowns. Shonn's playing weight is 235 pounds, this size clearly makes him the biggest runner on the Jets roster. Last ... Read Full Story

The New York Jets destroyed the putrid Oakland Raiders 38-0 Sunday afternoon at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.   Unfortunately for New York (4-3), their dominating triumph came at a great expense.   One week after the Jets lost defensive standout Kris Jenkins for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, offensive sparkplug Leon Washington fractured his right fibula on his first carry of the game.   Washington, 27, a 2008 Pro...

The Iowa Hawkeyes have lost more at the running back position in a year's time than any other team I have ever seen. Doak Walker Award recipient Shonn Greene bolted after his stellar, record-setting junior season for the NFL where he was selected in the third round by the New York Jets. Jewel Hampton—the true freshman from 2008 who set an Iowa football freshman record with seven touchdown carries—hurt his knee in offseason activities and opted...

WCBS’s Green Lantern blog writes that they really liked what they saw from Shonn Greene in the Raiders game. You saw Shonn Greene. The kid is a beast and now, with a one-two punch of Thomas Jones and the rookie wrecking ball out of Iowa picking their way through an offensive line that has finally come [...]
