Polka dots are a fun and playful pattern that have been around for centuries. They first gained popularity on articles of clothing in Britain in the late nineteenth century. During that time, Polish polka music and dance were extremely popular and it is believed that this is where the name originated, although there is no real connection.

In the 50s and 60s, this cute little pattern of dots hit the big time and could be seen on everything including clothing, dinnerware, accessories, sunglasses, jewelry, toys, pop art, kitchenwre and just about anything else you can imagine! Although, polka dots may be thought of retro, this whimsical and stylish pattern has become a timeless staple.
