The Pittsburgh Penguins could have Sidney Crosby (jaw) back for the start of the postseason. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Crosby has been cleared for practice, and a return for Game 1 of the playoffs hasn't been ruled out. Expected to take part in practice Friday, Crosby will require additional clearance from the Penguins' medical folks before re-joining the lineup next week. You can have your Bruins-Canadiens, Rangers-Devils, or Blue Jackets-Predators*. For my money, the best rivalry in hockey right now is Penguins-Flyers. Last spring they gave us a bizarre, violent, goal fest of a playoff series, and so far this year, in three meetings, they’ve given us a 3-1 game, a 6-5 game, and a 5-4 game.

The Pittsburgh Penguins debuted their new and improved roster today against the New York Islanders, but just 50 seconds in Sidney Crosby left the game after taking slapshot in face. If you watch the replay closely, you can see a couple of Sid’s teeth go flying before he is knocked down to the ice.
