The Apprentice with Sir Alan Sugar starts on the 25th March. I can’t wait for the annual pressure cooker that is the BBC’s Apprentice programme. From the moment you hear the Apprentice music to the introduction of the first task to the final boardroom show down it’s all fun and you can even pick up a few business lessons along the way. And as well as splitting the teams into boys versus girls it looks as though it’s the North against the South too. The girls are mainly from the South and the boys mainly from the North. Lovely! And so who do we ... Read Full Story

The Apprentice is about half-way through. Certain characteristic Apprentice traits are coming to the fore. Always remember that this whole process is really for entertainment and the editing can make people look completely different to who they feel they are. Noorul Is Apparently Different In Real-life Noorul has suggested that the editing made it look as though he sold nothing. However, I do think that Noorul didn’t do himself many favours by always looking very pensive whenever the cameras were on him. And when they were concentrating on him as Project Manager he came across as extremely ineffectual and indecisive. His final nail in ... Read Full Story

Watch out Trump, you’re up against a knight now. The UK version of The Apprentice stars Sir Alan Sugar as… well, The Boss… the one who fires people. Though in its fifth series outside the U.S., BBCAmerica is starting a run of the first series starting May 5th. It’s much the same game, but with outrageous British accents, and to some degree or other a bit more decorum. The contestants are similarly Type-A, but there’s rather less drama just for the sake of drama. Restaurant owners, investment analysts, real estate developers, and other movers and shakers come together to hawk flowers at passersby in ... Read Full Story

Since the flu bug I picked up last week is still with me, I've had a lot of time to lay about the house feeling miserable and sorry for myself. As much fun as this can be at times it can also be pretty boring so in an effort to be productive I tried something new; I became addicted to BBC's The Apprentice . I don't typically watch this 12-week reality series because of an unpredictable schedule but also because it's so unreal . If we're honest, is there anyone who believes that the candidates are selected for their potential as employees and not ... Read Full Story

Get set for a junior version of The Apprentice in 2010, with Sir Alan Sugar uttering those famous words "You're fired" to a bunch of teenagers. The current series of The Apprentice is enjoying over 8m viewers each week and Sir Alan has said he would love to make a junior version of the programme, "It is my long held belief that we should be doing more to promote enterprise amongst young people, as the future of our economy relies on them." Junior Apprentice will feature five boys and five girls aged 16 and 17 in the five part series, from all social backgrounds. ... Read Full Story

Stonily quiet at the back of a big, blank office on a weird, wind-whipped Essex trading estate, Sir Alan Sugar — ’skewze me, Lord Sugar — looks small, angry and alone. The businessman’s face, normally the rough beige of a Farley’s rusk, is ...
