Kate Walsh and Yasmina Siadatan head to head in the final of The Apprentice 2009 for the six-figure salary job with Sir Alan Sugar…

The final task was to create a new brand of chocolates, with an eye-catching marketing campaign that was presented to over 100 industry experts, Margaret Mountford, Nick Hewer and Sir Alan himself.

Yasmina picked James, Philip, Lorraine and Howard
Kate chose Ben, Debra, Kimberly and Rocky.

Kate team targeted the couples market and created a three-tier box, with a tray of romantic-tasting chocolates ‘for him, for her and one to share.’ Their initial brand name ‘Intimate’ reminded both Nick and Debra of feminine products, so was changed last minute to Choc d’Amour.

Yasmina initially decided to target the male market but after her research identified women are the main lovers of chocolate she switched her idea to Cocoa Electric - chocolates made to shock.

At the presentation Kate was calm and clear in delivering her pitch for Choc d’Amour, at the price tag of £13 with all tasters impressed with the taste of the chocolates but concerned over the high price tag. Yasmina opened with dancers choreographed by Phillip and although her pitch and price tag was good there were some concerns over whether a second helping of any of her electric flavoured chocolates would be sought.

Afterwards Sir Alan summed up to Adrian Chiles ‘I can’t put it into words why I chose Yasmina, it was just a gut instinct’."

Siadatan will now work with one of Sir Alan’s companies on a digital signage project.
