Microdermabrasion is an exfoliation process that is done mechanically. During this procedure the top layer of the skin’s surface is removed. This top layers is the part of the skin cells that have died. This treatment is used on the face, hands, and chest.

There are many reasons why people would use microdermabrasion - but it is also one fo the more expensive treatments that one can use. One session of microdermabrasion can cost between $100 - $150.

There are many reasons why people consider microdermabrasion. One of the biggest reasons is that it can create a healthier and more glowing complexion by erasing any sign of sun damage, fine lines, acne scars, wrinkles, and smoothing out rough skin.

During this treatment the dermatologist will use a device that will push out tiny crystals of aluminum dioxide - also known as corundum powder - over the surface of the skin that is being treated. These crystals are hard and very fine. It works to remove the top layer of the skin that is made up of dead skin cells.

Once the dead skin has been removed a vacuum is used to remove any remains of the powder from the skin. While microdermabrasion is not a painful process it can be quite uncomfortable on certain areas of the skin. Some of the more sensitive areas are around the mouth and the nose.
