THIS SEASON of Smallville saw the introduction of comic book ensemble the Legion of Super-Heroes - and we could be seeing more from the team. DC Comics writer Geoff Johns penned the Smallville episode that introduced the Legion, with Canadian actor and singer Alexz Johnson as telepathic Saturn Girl, Calum Worthy as electrically-charged Lightning Lad, and Ryan Kennedy (Blade: The Series) as magnetically-powered Cosmic Boy. SMALLVILLE could be forced to end because of 'actor availability' issues with Tom Welling, according to one of the show's executive producers. The show reimagines the younger years of Clark Kent before he became Superman, with 31-year-old Welling in the lead role. Kryptonsite reports that executive produce Darren Swimmer told TV Guide that although the show is enjoying a ratings rebound in its eighth season, it may have to end in May because of actor availability problems, notably with Welling. Tom Welling will never wear the Superman suit? At least not on Smallville . Fucking lame. “It would be the end of the show because that would be when Smallville would end and Superman would begin,” says Al Gough , series co-creator. SMALLVILLE continues to defy the naysayers who believe it has run its course, with US TV network The CW today announcing it has ordered another series of the hit show. There will now be a ninth season of Smallville, which stars Tom Welling as a young Clark Kent before he became Superman.
