In the previous three articles we discussed a number of cheap or even free methods of boosting computer system performance and getting the biggest bang for your buck. In TNT3 we touched upon hard drives and partitions as well as briefly mentioning something called a “striped volume” among other things. Alrighty! In the last article we covered RAID 0 which are also known as Striped Volumes. Fun stuff, right?
Well this time around we are going to give a few tips about RAID 1 arrays, which are also known as Mirrored Volumes. After a long day of seminars and presenting two of them myself, it was getting late in the day and I was starting to seriously think about getting some dinner. Many of those folks that I talked to late in the afternoon were looking forward to making some plans for dinner too. But we still had one more thing on the schedule with Professor Jam and Dr. Drax hosting an “open mic” style question and answer session for whatever was foremost on people’s minds. But with things winding down in... Read Full Story

Of course there was also plenty of time scheduled for all of us to break for lunch and... Read Full Story

This conversation, like way too many to count, talked about issues with the audio noise/interference coming from a laptop and ways to (cheaply) work around it. Of course these threads where someone complains about a laptop doing this or not doing this is far too often also... Read Full Story
