XKCD will hit the front page of Digg. Every time. No exceptions.
The often brilliant webcomic XKCD is published on particular days and at particular times during the week. The clockwork nature of the posts is followed by several Digg users because every post will hit the front page. The chances of a Kevin Rose submission missing the front page is higher than the chances of XKCD missing.
As a result, every post is submitted multiple times within seconds after it goes live. Because... Read Full Story
Geeky guys drive me crazy. And Kevin Rose is no exception. Good Geeks actually believe it is possible to build and tweak algorithms so that the Electronic Frontier is a pure democracy . They admit there are Evil Geeky guys out trying to undermine that democracy , for their own nefarious purposes, but in their vanity the Good Geeks are convinced they can keep one step ahead. Last March, I and a number of other people noticed, that it appeared there were Bury Brigades at Digg . Everyone knows... Read Full Story

They have gone through two previous revolts: 1 that resulted in them allowing the HD-DVD codes to be published on the site and one that initiated a direct response from Jay Adelson and Kevin Rose before the revolt could officially begin. This time, it appears all that Digg can do is sit back and let it happen. Sunday, October 12... Read Full Story

The Astronomy Picture of the Day has been an amazing and anticipated thing for some time now. NASA posts 1 image at 9:00 PM pst every night, give or take 5 minutes. The images are normally stunning and are absolutely unique to the post in almost every circumstance.

Reddit is one of the top social news websites. It allows members to vote up or down news, pictures, videos and other media. Webpages voted to the frontpage generally see over 10,000 visitors within the span of a day. Being ‘hot’ on Reddit will likely cause the page to go viral, causing other social news sites to pick it up.
A small portion of visitors from Reddit are likely to become RSS subscribers and even buyers. You can easily see why web marketers would love to get their pages ‘hot... Read Full Story
Most of the top social media sites have been busy in the last few months making adjustments and (arguable) improvements to their algorithms, site designs, and features. It seems that there is a new race to offer their users incentive to stay, be active, and (hopefully) grow.
Most traffic indicators are showing that many social media sites are slowing down a bit after a peak during the heat of the election. This can be expected as there were users who joined and became active simply to... Read Full Story
