Shopaholic & Me!

I am the proud owner of the whole of Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella! I realized that I don't prefer Jhumpa Lahiri over Sophie Kinsella - it just depends on my state of mind. So, I've finished reading the whole of Shopaholic series and I love the way she writes. Chick lit is so refreshing - it doesn't make you contemplate about hard hitting things.

And then I also read Meenakshi Reddy's 'You Are Here', Advaita Kala's 'Almost Single' and Smita Jain's 'Krishnaa's Konfessions' [I couldn't find much on Google about Smita Jain - weird]. 
Meenakshi Reddy: Honestly, chick lit isn't about being a smoker or a hopeless drunk or a hopeless romantic. I would say, don't waste your money on the book because it really isn't worth too much time. I didn't even like the story.
Advaita Kala: Most chick lit novels in India revolve around the 30 something single woman, desperate to get married. I don't know if the trend will break but Almost Single is a likable, funny book. [Why does all Indian chick lit have crappy bosses doling out shit? Please!]
Smita Jain: Pass. I don't want to begin commenting on the book. Its one of the lamest books I've read and a complete waste of money.
If you like chick lit, please read the immensely famous Shopaholic series! Or take a pick from writers like Candace Bushnell, Marian Keyes, Jane Green and Sophie Kinsella, and then read Indian chick lit - there's such a difference, which might be the reason why Indian chick lit writers can't be as famous. 
We just need to come out of the whole arranged marriage, single 30 somethings, crappy boss, smokers, alcoholics, dopes business. Just my two hoots!
