This past Saturday night, 3/14/09, I resumed my annual pilgrimage to the Beacon Theatre in NYC to partake in the Allman Brothers Band's yearly residency there. I've been there every year to see the ABB since they've been playing there annually, I think since 1995 or '96 (missing last year -'08 - due to Greg Allman's recovering from complications due to Hepatitis C, causing the band to cancel the run). MUSIC NEWS - Legendary southern rockers, The ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND have announced the next two legs of their USA 40th Anniversary tour (full itinerary below) . After some May West Coast dates with the Doobie Brothers (at select shows), the rock 'n roll icons will share the stage with fellow Georgian rockers, Wi despread Panic for their summer and fall run of shows that begin on August 21 in Camden, NJ. MUSIC NEWS - The Allman Brothers Band will continue celebrating their 40th anniversary this spring and summer with added headlining and festival dates. The band is currently in the middle of its annual Beacon Theatre run in NYC (after a year off), will journey out west for the first time in four years when the first round of their "40 Years of Highs & Lows" tour starts off in Oakland, CA on May 12 (& 13). MUSIC NEWS   -  With the final leg of the Allman Brothers Band year-long 40th Anniversary USA tour finished and ABB on a well deserved break, founding band member,   GREGG ALLMAN announced he will head back out on the road for series of solo shows this winter. The singer, songwriter, keyboardist and guitarist begins his fall tour November 11 in Salamanca, NY, followed by a group of shows that includes a NYC benefit for the Michael J Fox Foundation and a New Year’s Eve show in Rhode Island. MUSIC NEWS - The ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND opened the West Coast portion of their 40th Anniversary tour last week in grand ABB fashion, chock full of tunes and guests. Two sold-out shows at the Fox Theatre in Oakland, CA (5/12 & 5/13), then playing with the Dead and the Doobie Brothers (btw- watch for new Ted Templeman produced album from the Doobies!) at a sold-out Gorge Amphitheatre gig in Washington state on May 15th, and followed it up with two star-studded nights (5/19 & 5/20) at Los Angeles’ historic Greek Theatre.
