Spain is a democracy which is organized as a parliamentary monarchy. It is a developed country with the ninth-largest economy in the world. It is the largest of the three sovereign nations that make up the Iberian Peninsula —the others are Portugal and the microstate of Andorra.

The Spanish Army Disaster Response Unit (UME) has just taken delivery of its first EC135 helicopter. This is an important milestone in the program to equip the UME, a new unit of the Spanish Armed Forces created by the Spanish Government on 7 October 2005.
