It’s been tested. It’s been proven. It’s the world’s fastest swimsuit. To celebrate its 80th anniversary, Speedo, the world’s leading swimwear brand, launched the new Speedo LZR Racer on February 12th, 2008. Independent testing has shown the LZR Racer to be the world’s fastest swimsuit – results further proven by the 17 World Records set by athletes wearing the LZR Racer in the past two months alone. Speedo harnessed the expertise of NASA and a number of international research institutes to create a faster suit which has 10% less passive drag than Speedo’s FASTSKIN FSII launched in 2004 and 5% less passive drag than ... It's suit madness at the U.S. national championships. Swimmers are experimenting with — and sometimes tearing — various models at $500 a pop. An inspector makes sure everyone is wearing only one suit and it's on a list approved by swimming's world governing body. Michael Phelps doesn't plan to experiment with any new suits at next week's U.S. national championships. Other swimmers aren't so confident they should stick with what they've worn in the past. Last week's ruling by the sport's governing body to approve more high-tech suits leaves them with some decisions to make. Dara Torres expects to try different suits and make a "game-time decision." U.S. national team coach Mark Schubert said he would advise swimmers to experiment with various options and choose what they feel most comfortable with. The problem is that for many elite swimmers, their primary income comes from the suit manufacturer that ... Read Full Story

A federal judge in California turned back an attempt to dismiss TYR Sport's antitrust lawsuit against swimsuit rival Speedo and USA Swimming, allowing the case to go to trial next year. The decision issued this week by U.S. District Judge James Selna of Santa Ana, Calif., made public late Friday, said nine of the 10 claims made by TYR were strong enough to at least be heard in court. Also named in the suit is U.S. head coach Mark Schubert and Olympic swimmer Erik Vendt, who switched from TYR to Speedo. The case is scheduled for trial in March 2010. TYR claimed the exclusive ...
