The New York Times has called it " Art Costco for Billionaires ." It's Art Basel Miami Beach , and it's coming up December 6th. It's geared more toward buyers than browsers, but it's the largest art show you'll find in South Florida. From the Smithsonian: Miami Splash "Art Basel Miami Beach has one of the planet's highest concentrations of wealth and talent," boasts fair director Samuel Keller. Spawned from the world premier modern and contemporary art fair in Switzerland, Miami Beach is once again hosting this world famous event. More than 1,500 international artists, and 200 galleries were represented last year showcasing paintings, sculptures, drawings, installations and photographs. Spencer Tunick, whom you may remember from his infamous photos of nudes assembling in public, en masse (Miami, Mexico City, you guys know what we’re talking about), has struck again in DF. This time, instead of getting 20,000 people to get naked in Zocalo square, he opted for individual nude portraits- still in public. A NWS Video follows: Tunick, a native New Yorker, says he returned to DF because he feels safer working in Mexico than in the U.S. And apparently there’s no shortage of people willing to prance about stark naked for him, since his 2007 shoot of nudes in Zocalo saw 20,000 ... Tunick said he hoped to capture "the spirit of sports, the grand sweeping waves of stadium architecture and the abstract relation of the human form to modern structures."
