Jordan Vs. Koby
This has cuased alot of debate. I will readly agree Koby Bryant is one alsome player. By the end of his career he will probually pass Micheal Jordan statisticly. He has has scored more points than Jordan ever scored in a game 69. Koby also has scored (I think, I'm really not sure) more 50 point games than Jordan have. He can shoot the three point shot way better than Jordan as well. You might mistake me as a Koby Bryant fan, I'm not. I have had the opportunity to watch both play at their peeks and I will now give what Jordan excelled at.
Jordan was better exploding to the basket even against stiff D (remember, Jordan played against the Bad Boys of Detroit who created the term flagrant foul) koby seems to jog on his way to the basket way too often. Koby also seems to wilt under physical D, while Jordan rose to the occassion. Jordan was a better free throw shooter. He has made free throws with his eyes closed, in playoff games! I've seen Koby and his lakers shoot horribly from the line! Everyone says Koby is a better shooter. From three as I sayed earlier... yes. Jordan had a more consitant 15 footer. Plus, Jordan was a more consistant shooter UNDER PRESSURE. If Jordan did hit a cold spell(miss about three shoots in a row)he started to post up or attack the basket immediately. While Koby will try to shot through it. Last but not least is that, Jordan always played at a high level in the playoffs. I've never seen him go into the half scoring just just 9 points like Koby has this playoff series against Boston. This includs even when Chicago struggled against Detroit before they won a championship. Jordan was also a better lock down defender except during and after that last Bulls championship.
I know Koby's numbers speak for themself... DURING the season. I just see something missing in Koby in the playoffs when he comes up against a worthy opponent. Or rather a physical defensive opponent. I've seen plenty of playoff games especailly against eastern conferance opponents that he'll have a game that he disappears. In the west it's more run and gun and they score more points out there. that plays to Koby's and the lakers finess game. I remember when the Sixers went to the finals and Iverson scored 50 points in that first game they won. Koby only scored 14 points in that game. the whoooole game. Who was guarding him? Raja Bell?! Koby should have dominated him. He did come alive the next four games the lakers won but, that lapse of concentration I never saw happen to Jordan.
I will end this list of proven facts with this. Jordan was great because, he made amazing things happen. especailly in the playoffs. koby can score 50-60 points during the season, but he needs to do that in CLUTCH TIME. This series is his opportunity to be mentioned as truly one of the greats. Lakers look destined to loose this series back in Boston. This is the time for Koby to have one of those heroic 40-60 point games. His teamates do have to help, but they must play better team D! One other thing, Jordan actually played better away from home than Koby. He was even more focused and actually enjoyed the challenge. You could bet Jordan was going to go on a scoring spree in the third or forth quarter. Jordan teamates also responded to him and played above their level. To add to that, I don't remember a Jordan team never losing a game when they had a 18-24 point lead especially in the playoffs! Enough said! Feel free to comment and disagree, but I pretty much killed this aurgument. Unless if something magical happens in this series I can't say Koby is as great as Jordan.
