Starbucks: Down for good?

Many people would find it hard to imagine that Starbucks Corp. (SBUX) has fallen from a 52-week high of $40.01 to a lowly current trading price of $25.99. I find it hard to believe myself considering revenue increased 19.6% in Q2 FY07 compared to Q2 FY06. Furthermore, SBUX has increased its unit expansion target from 30,000 to 40,000, half of which will be abroad. FY07 guidance is also very optimistic as management expects net revenue growth of approximately 20% and expects EPS growth to... Read Full Story

Why are people so mean?

Well, I haven't blogged in a day or so, so I guess I'd better catch myself up. I work part time at Starbucks, and I just want to know WHY DO PEOPLE HAVE TO BE SO MEAN? I mean, just because we work for starbucks and make your coffee, doesn't give anyone the right to 1. talk down to us, 2. treat us as though we are idiots and 3. act like we are your own personal slaves - just because you order a $5 drink doesn't mean you deserve service fit for a King or Queen!!!! Grrrrr. Just had to get that... Read Full Story

Starbucks Offers Free Coffee To Voters

(Photo by Getty) Though they stopped short of endorsing a candidate, Starbucks is giving away FREE TALL BLACK COFFEE on election day (if you vote). This despite posting its first profit losses since 1992 in July.  Vote No on undecided voters! From the Starbucks blog : It will work like this:  After you vote Tuesday (11/4), head to your local US Starbucks and we’ll give you a FREE tall (12 oz) cup of brewed coffee at no charge (limit one per customer).  If you live in an area without voting... Starschmucks Folly: VIA, the Instant New Coke

You could put lipstick on a pig , but... So it seems that Starbucks , the U.S. brewing behemoth, has decided to hawk an upscale version of Folger's Crystals (currently gathering dust at the back of your out-of-touch nattering Nana's pantry), but don't you dare display your displeasure whilst within the immediate vicinity of one of their brainwashed baristas, or be prepared for a barrage of inane talking points and propaganda rivaling Liz Cheney's blind backing of enhanced... The War on Starbucks - Fact or Fiction?

Recently I was out running around doing my errands and on occasion I like to stop by Starbucks when I am finished to indulge myself with the decadence that only Starbucks coffee can offer.  Afterward I picked up my brother so we could go to dinner together.  When he got in my car he noticed the Starbucks coffee cup and preceded to tell me something that just could have sent me into a deep depression (not really) but I would have been heart broken to say the least. The story is that Starbucks... Read Full Story

Barista Blunders at Starbucks

Is a nonfat Chai a: a) Chai made with skim or fat free milk? b) Chai made with soy milk some of the time? c) Chai made with a little skim or fat free milk and a little soy none of the time? If you guessed “a” you are correct and more ahead of the curve than the people at Starbucks on Spring and Crosby in SoHo. This morning, against my better judgement, I decided to have an iced Chai latté because it was a little warm outside. A nice nonfat Chai latté would be very refreshing, yes? Of course... Fon wants you to help steal business from Starbucks and T-Mobile

Filed under: Wireless , Networking Oh tricky, sneaky Fon . Fresh off their 10,000 Fonero giveaway, they’re stepping up the ante with how they give away their loss-leader routers. Their newest campaign is sure to strike a chord with armchair entrepreneurs and Adbusters fans alike: if you live within the immediate vicinity of a Starbucks (read: WiFi range), Fon would like to send you one of their Foneros. Why? Because, if you recall, when you allow users to connect with your internet... Read Full Story

Starbucks - Down But Not Out

Howard Schultz's memo to his associates shows his true mettle as CEO of a company that has seen its share price increase by 4400% since it went public in 1992. Recently, after hitting an all time high of $40 back in November, Starbucks (SBUX) has seen its share price drop over 25%. Despite growing earnings at just under 20%, and with aggressive plans to expand in Asia, the stock is trading at 27 times 2007 earnings - a multiple not seen in over 4 years. While it is true that the giant coffee... Read Full Story

PR AND RETAIL LOCATIONS

I (foolishly) spent the day shopping during this major holiday weekend – admittedly at high-end, brand-name stores, and primarily at those establishments that spend a ton of money in advertising in an attempt to draw customers to the stores’ various locations.   Earlier in the week, at a major sporting event, I had a similar thought: Why do brands spend so much money trying to draw people to their stores and then so little time and attention once they have people there? At this event, a... Read Full Story

Starbucks Good-For-You Breakfast Arrives Next Week

As top-secret code names go, the in-house corporate reference for Starbucks impending breakfast revamp is less than intimidating: “Morning Source.” OOOOOOH…. Scary. Reportedly, however, that’s what they call it around Seattle these days, according to a revealing, read-between-the-lines type story in USA Today . The details are this: Next Wednesday, Sept. 3, Starbucks will start a wholesale retooling of that frightening doughnut-laden glass case in front of the baristas. There will be six... Read Full Story
