Starquest Starion
For fans of the Starion. If you have a mint condition Mitsubishi Starion please share some pics and stories. The Starion was made in widebody and narrowbody and was released in the early 80's (I think 1983).
Pentti Airikkala R.I.P.
It is with great sadness to report that Finnish rally legend Pentti Airikkala passed away today (30 September 2009), following a long illness.
Pentti won the 1989 RAC Rally (his only WRC win) driving a Mitsubishi Galant VR-4, to record one of the event's most popular victories after it eluded him back in 1976 following a great drive in a MkII Escort.
He is probably best remembered though, when he drove the Vauxhall Chevette HS for the DTV team IN THE LATE '70s. In winning the 1979 Circuit of Ireland Rally Airikkala became the first and only foriegn driver to do so and later regarded this win as the finest of his long distinguished career.
Airikkala would later run a hugely successful rally driving school where he pioneered his left-foot braking technique with the pupils and churned out a host of future rally stars.
