I don’t know who could accurately say how much snow Staten Island received; I know it was a far cry from some of our more notorious storms. The blizzard of ‘96 was by far the one worst storm in a weather recorded history in the borough. That blizzard left over 2 feet of snow on Staten Island and nothing moved for days. This snowstorm caught some forecasters off guard, because computer generated models had the storm exiting further south and east most of the week. There was quite a bit of real estate activity in the Grant City and Dongan Hills area of Staten Island over the past few months. With that activity came some relatively large deals for the area. The largest of those real estate deals was a commercial transaction involving the sale of 1639 Richmond Road, transferring with a closing day price tag $1,075,000. Staten Island Home sales soar to 2 year high. With 290 home sales last month on Staten Island, November 2009 records the highest sales total in nearly 2 years. The sales volume jump is 50% higher than in November 2008, when there were just 196 home sales. Median home price drops to 360,000 for the month, but falls within yearly average range.
