Michael Green has been appointed as the Cambridge University Lucasian professor of mathematics, a position once held by Sir Isaac Newton and previously held by Stephen Hawking. Hawking resigned from the university at the end of the 2008-2009 academic year because of a university policy that requires resignation at age 67 (see "Hawking to Step Down from Professorship"). Hawking will, among other things, be working some at Canada's Perimeter...

It's not as insane as it sounds. As the folks at Third Man explain:
"A Glorious Dawn" is a moving arrangement of Carl Sagan's sagacious words culled from his magnificent Cosmos series. The piece initially gained recognition when composer John Boswell uploaded to YouTube his remixed Sagan dialogue edited, Auto-Tuned and put to a beat and coupled with a guest appearance by Stephen Hawking.
Sometimes Auto-Tune can be used for good. The Hawking...

This is so sad. It's tragic. I'm going to write about the Trinity River project again. I did all 12 steps. For what?
After the voters of Dallas, in their infinite and manifest wisdom, voted in favor of the project (for the second time) in a referendum two years ago, I admitted that I was ...

His label, Third Man Records, has just announced plans to release 'A Glorious Dawn,' composer John Boswell's "musical tribute to two great men of science" -- astronomer Carl Sagan and theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking -- on vinyl. The web of lies was working away yesterday: apparently, some bored wankers created some twitter accounts and started injecting rumors into the internet that Hawking had been killed by a Christian fundamentalist, and they've been spreading everywhere — I'm getting all kinds of email from people wondering if it is true.
No reputable news source is carrying any story about it, and the only source is a couple of anonymous twitter accounts. So...

All props to John Boswell of Colorpulse for finding a way to put the (otherwise) annoying Auto-Tune to great use.
After I first heard this, I pulled my copy of Cosmos off of the bookshelf for the first time in five years. Guess I'm going to have to break down and finally pick up a copy of A Brief History of Time, too. Who'd have ever thought that these two--Sagan and Hawking--giants in the field of astrophysics, would become pop stars in the...

Homeopathy has been discussed on the Blue before, but you've never heard it explained so well as this. You'll learn lessmore about physics than you've ever believed possible, and see how Einstein's Theory of Special Relativity ties in to homeopathic medicine, and Stephen Hawking's String Theory makes it all happen. And don't tell me that Stephen Hawking didn't invent String Theory. Charlene Werner says he did, and she invented Syntonic...

It has been announced that Michael Green will become the new Lucasian Professor. Green is one of the pioneers of string theory, and is already at Cambridge.
