Actress Angela Lansbury will be the first recipient of the Stephen Sondheim Award from a Washington-area theater that has produced more of the composer's works than any other U.S. theater.

I just got some snaps from last night's Westport Country Playhouse's annual gala, celebrating composer Mary Rodgers Guettel, who was an appentice at the Playhouse in 1950. Composer Stephen Sondheim, a pal of Rodgers and a fellow intern at the theater, was also at the gala. Pictured left was also composer Adam Guettel ("The Light in the Piazza,"Floyd Collins"), Rodgers' son.
