Browns kicker Phil Dawson and tight end Steve Heiden will not play against the Steelers today. Both veterans were downgraded to out on the injury report released by the Browns on Saturday. They had been listed as questionable.  

Cleveland wide receiver/return specialist Joshua Cribbs once again was limited in practice on Friday and is questionable as he attempts to get ready for the Browns' home test versus Green Bay on Sunday.  

New Cleveland Browns linebacker Matt Roth is happy to be out of Miami after what he termed a falling out with the Dolphins. Roth was claimed off waivers by the Browns this week after totaling 158 tackles and 12 1/2 sacks in five seasons in Miami. He started a career-high 14 games last season, three years after the Dolphins selected him in the second round of the draft.  

There were pump fakes and faked handoffs in Sunday's game between the Browns and Lions. Eric Mangini believes there may have been some other deception. On Monday, Cleveland's embattled coach questioned whether Detroit's defensive players faked injuries to slow down the Browns' no-huddle offense, which racked up a season-high 439 yards during a 38-37 loss.  

Frustration got the best of Browns coach Eric Mangini, who now regrets suggesting the Detroit Lions faked injuries. Cleveland dropped a 38-37 heartbreaker in Detroit on Sunday, losing when the Lions scored a touchdown and kicked the game-winning extra point with no time on the clock. The TD was set up by a pass interference call in the end zone against the Browns.  

Bengals running back Cedric Benson is inactive for the game against the Cleveland Browns, the second straight week he's been sidelined by a sprained hip. Rookie Bernard Scott started Sunday in place of Benson, who had been listed as questionable. Scott made his first NFL start last Sunday in Oakland and ran for 119 yards in a 20-17 loss to the Raiders.  

Former Seattle and Green Bay coach Mike Holmgren is interested in working for the struggling Cleveland Browns. Holmgren said on his weekly radio show on Seattle's KJR that he has not yet spoken to Browns owner Randy Lerner, who is looking for a "serious, credible leader" football authority to run his struggling team.  

Browns defensive lineman Shaun Rogers suffered a leg injury when a teammate was blocked into him in the closing minutes of a game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Rogers lay on his back for several minutes after the pileup. He was taken off the field on a cart, with teammates coming over to offer encouragement.  

If Chad Ochocinco really wants to fight a mixed martial arts champion, Browns defensive coordinator Rob Ryan hopes it happens before Cleveland's game at Cincinnati on Sunday. One week after Detroit's Calvin Johnson caught seven passes for 161 yards against the Browns, one of the league's worst defenses must contend with a rejuvenated Ochocinco.  

The generous gap in Cleveland's defense has grown to canyon-like proportions. Already missing their two starting inside linebackers, the bad-as-they've-ever-been Browns lost Pro Bowl nose tackle Shaun Rogers to a season-ending lower leg injury, another blow to a struggling unit that gave up 210 rushing yards on Sunday in Cincinnati.
