The losses are piling up for the Cleveland Browns. They've placed punter Dave Zastudil and tight end Steve Heiden on injured reserve with season-ending injuries.

Brady Quinn has always loved the bright lights. Playing under them makes the Cleveland Browns quarterback shine. "I like playing night games," he said. "Takes you back to those high school days, I guess." Those were mostly on Friday nights. Quinn may wish Monday night that he was back in the hallways of Dublin Coffman High, his alma mater near Columbus.  

Browns coach Eric Mangini has defended his practices one day after running back Jamal Lewis complained that Cleveland's players are being worked too hard. Lewis asserted that Mangini was wearing out his players during the week with 2 1/2 - to 3-hour workouts and they had nothing left by kickoff on Sunday.  

Brady Quinn and the Cleveland Browns are right back where they started. Benched by coach Eric Mangini just 2 1/2 games and 69 pass attempts into the season, Quinn will start Monday night's game against the Baltimore Ravens, the team he was facing on Sept. 27 when the former Notre Dame star was yanked at halftime.  

Baltimore Ravens defensive lineman Haloti Ngata was inactive for Monday night's game against the Cleveland Browns because of an ankle injury. Ngata, a 6-foot-4, 345-pound run stopper, also missed last week's game against Cincinnati. Justin Bannan was expected to fill in for Ngata for the Ravens (4-4) .  

The Cleveland Browns have not yet sold out next Monday night's game against Baltimore and are facing their first TV blackout since 1995. A team spokesman said "a few thousand" tickets remained for the game and it was too early to say whether the game would be televised in the Cleveland area.  

Browns linebacker Eric Barton will miss the rest of the season with an unspecified injury. In announcing on Tuesday that Barton was being placed on injured reserve, the Browns did not reveal his injury or a timetable for their leading tackler's recovery. Barton is Cleveland's second inside linebacker to be sidelined with a season-ending injury.  

Down two starting inside linebackers, the Cleveland Browns have signed free agent linebacker Josh Stamer. Stamer has appeared in 86 games during a seven-year career with the New York Giants, Seattle, Buffalo and Tennessee. He was released by the Titans on Sept. 5. The Browns have lost linebackers D'Qwell Jackson and Eric Barton to season-ending injuries.  

Cleveleand Browns running back Jamal Lewis says he's frustrated by another losing season and coach Eric Mangini is pushing his players too hard. Lewis, who intends to retire after this season, said Thursday that he doesn't want to be a "babysitter" to Cleveland's younger players.  

The Browns have averted their first TV blackout since 1995. The team announced Thursday night that the remaining tickets for Monday night's game against the Baltimore Ravens have been purchased by the Browns, ESPN, Bud Light and WJW-TV, which will air the game. The Browns said the four entities will distribute the tickets to the USO and other local organizations.  

The NFL Players Association is trying to set up a meeting with Cleveland Browns players this week to talk about coach Eric Mangini's practices, a person at the union told The Associated Press on Monday. The person, who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity to protect the Browns players' confidentiality, said the union is looking into what has been going on in Cleveland this season...  

Browns wide receiver Josh Cribbs was taken to a hospital for further tests after being injured on a hard hit on the final play of Baltimore's 16-0 win over Cleveland on Monday night. Cribbs caught a pass from Brady Quinn on the final play and lateraled to Robert Royal. Following the pitch, Cribbs was hit near midfield by defensive end Dwan Edwards.  

Bengals running back Cedric Benson is inactive for the game against the Cleveland Browns, the second straight week he's been sidelined by a sprained hip. Rookie Bernard Scott started Sunday in place of Benson, who had been listed as questionable. Scott made his first NFL start last Sunday in Oakland and ran for 119 yards in a 20-17 loss to the Raiders.  

There were pump fakes and faked handoffs in Sunday's game between the Browns and Lions. Eric Mangini believes there may have been some other deception. On Monday, Cleveland's embattled coach questioned whether Detroit's defensive players faked injuries to slow down the Browns' no-huddle offense, which racked up a season-high 439 yards during a 38-37 loss.  

New Cleveland Browns linebacker Matt Roth is happy to be out of Miami after what he termed a falling out with the Dolphins. Roth was claimed off waivers by the Browns this week after totaling 158 tackles and 12 1/2 sacks in five seasons in Miami. He started a career-high 14 games last season, three years after the Dolphins selected him in the second round of the draft.  

The NFL has given the Cleveland Browns a 24-hour extension to sell the remaining tickets for Sunday's game against San Diego and avoid a TV blackout. As of Thursday afternoon, the Browns said there were "a few thousand tickets" left. For a game to be aired on local TV, the league requires a game to be sold out 72 hours before kickoff.  

Browns starting safety Brodney Pool's season could be over and his career is in jeopardy after sustaining another concussion in Sunday's loss to Cincinnati. Pool, a five-year veteran, sustained at least his fourth known concussion in the third quarter against the Bengals. Coach Eric Mangini said Pool's status "is not looking very positive." The Cleveland Browns have avoided a blackout for Sunday's game against San Diego by joining with a TV station and several local businesses to guarantee a sellout. The game will be shown in the Cleveland area on WOIO-TV. The remaining tickets will be distributed to local charities, including the Cleveland Foodbank, the United Way, the Red Cross and the Salvation Army.  

Beaten up and beaten down, the Cleveland Browns haven't quit. Their embattled coach isn't surprised. San Diego linebacker Shawne Merriman was one of three defensive starters inactive for Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns because of injury. Free safety Eric Weddle (knee) and defensive end Luis Castillo (calf) were also out as the Chargers (8-3) tried to win their seventh straight game. Merriman has been slowed by a foot injury.  

Browns defensive lineman Shaun Rogers suffered a leg injury when a teammate was blocked into him in the closing minutes of a game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Rogers lay on his back for several minutes after the pileup. He was taken off the field on a cart, with teammates coming over to offer encouragement.  

LaDainian Tomlinson walked back into San Diego's locker room to meet the special guest who wanted to offer congratulations. Jim Brown was waiting for him. "Yeah, a perfect day," Tomlinson said as he headed toward the Chargers' team bus. "I've thought a long time about this day.  

The Browns continue to struggle with injuries. Defensive end C.J. Mosley will be out for the season after breaking his ankle in Sunday's 30-23 loss to San Diego. Mosley's injury comes one week after the Browns lost nose tackle Shaun Rogers for the season. That's two-thirds of a defensive line. Former Seattle and Green Bay coach Mike Holmgren is interested in working for the struggling Cleveland Browns. Holmgren said on his weekly radio show on Seattle's KJR that he has not yet spoken to Browns owner Randy Lerner, who is looking for a "serious, credible leader" football authority to run his struggling team.  

Cleveland Browns defensive lineman C.J. Mosley is done for the season with a leg injury. Mosley got hurt in the first quarter of Sunday's loss to San Diego. The team placed Mosley on injured reserve, the fifth Cleveland defensive player to go on IR. Browns coach Eric Mangini did not specify Mosley's injury, but said the 26-year-old will likely have surgery.  

Like so many Ohio kids raised on football, Brady Quinn developed a strong distaste for everything Pittsburgh Steelers. Growing up a die-hard Browns fan, Cleveland's quarterback learned from an early age that those neighbors from Pennsylvania wearing black and gold were the enemy, Iron City villains to be despised and beaten whenever possible.  

Frustration got the best of Browns coach Eric Mangini, who now regrets suggesting the Detroit Lions faked injuries. Cleveland dropped a 38-37 heartbreaker in Detroit on Sunday, losing when the Lions scored a touchdown and kicked the game-winning extra point with no time on the clock. The TD was set up by a pass interference call in the end zone against the Browns.  

Browns defensive end Kenyon Coleman did not participate in Monday's walkthrough. Coleman, who missed Sunday's game against San Diego with a knee injury, was hurt in last week's game against Cincinnati. The Browns had 10 other players, including linebacker David Bowens (knee), defensive lineman Robaire Smith (shoulder), linebacker Kamerion Wimbley (knee) and cornerback Eric Wright...  

Cleveland Browns quarterback Brady Quinn has been fined by the NFL for his low hit on Baltimore's Terrell Suggs. After throwing an interception in Monday night's 16-0 loss to the Ravens, Quinn dived at Suggs' knees while trying to bring down cornerback Chris Carr, who had picked him off. Suggs had to leave the game and could miss significant playing time.

All the injuries to the Cleveland Browns this year have left coach Eric Mangini starting over. "Some stuff you do have to spend time on you wouldn't typically," Mangini said. "Like learning guys' names. We've had quite a few new faces come through." More could be on the way.

Josh Cribbs says the Cleveland Browns have told him they want to have a new contract in place by the end of the season. Cribbs wouldn't say who specifically, only that "the team" told him over the bye week they wanted to get something done this year. Cleveland was off the weekend of Nov.  

Former Cleveland Browns general manager George Kokinis has filed for arbitration against the team for firing him. Kokinis was dismissed by the Browns on Nov. 2. He filed the case with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for breach of contract and fraudulent misrepresentation. The case could be heard by Goodell.  

Walking with a cane, 73-year-old Jim Brown hurried downstairs Sunday to congratulate Jerome Harrison for rushing for 286 yards and erasing the Cleveland Browns record he had held since 1957. "I made sure I came down early to be able to greet Mr. Harrison," said Brown, who is an executive adviser for the Browns.  

PITTSBURGH - Back in 1989, a dreadful loss to the Cleveland Browns appeared to ruin the Pittsburgh Steelers' season. Owner Dan Rooney said the playoffs were out. With 11 rookies, the Steelers didn't seem to have enough experience to overcome a 4-6 start.

Jerome Harrison of the Cleveland Browns has broken Jim Brown's single-game team rushing record. Harrison had 240 yards on 29 carries against Kansas City with a little more than 4 minutes left Sunday. He came in with 301 yards rushing for the season. His career high before Sunday was 121 yards this year against Cincinnati.  

Jerome Harrison ran from nowhere into the record books. Joshua Cribbs topped even himself. Embattled Browns coach Eric Mangini should thank them both. Harrison scored his third touchdown with 44 seconds left and rushed for a team-record 286 yards, and Cribbs returned two kickoffs for touchdowns to lift the Cleveland Browns to a 41-34 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.  

Cleveland defensive lineman Corey Williams injured his leg early in the second half against Kansas City and his return was questionable. Williams left the field favoring his left leg and walked very slowly into the tunnel. The Browns were leading 27-24.  

The Kansas City Chiefs are without three starting linemen against the Cleveland Browns, with guard Brian Waters, tackle Ryan O'Callaghan and defensive end Glenn Dorsey on the inactive list. Waters, a four-time Pro Bowler, was out with a hamstring injury. Dorsey hurt his knee last week against Buffalo.

Cleveland Browns coach Eric Mangini said punter Dave Zastudil has undergone surgery on his right knee. Zastudil was placed on injured reserve last month, ending what had been one the best seasons in his eight-year NFL career. Mangini provided little information Monday on Zastudil, who dropped 25 punts inside the 20-yard line before he was placed on IR on Nov.  

Cleveland's Josh-of-all-trades is ready to take on yet another new position. It's not enough that Josh Cribbs, the Browns' do-everything playmaker, returns kickoffs and punts, plays gunner on special teams, lines up at wide receiver and as a quarterback in the wildcat information. Cribbs wouldn't object to playing running back.  

If LeBron James truly believes he can help the Cleveland Browns, coach Eric Mangini has an orange helmet waiting for him. "I think he should come on down," Mangini said. The NBA superstar, who was an All-State wide receiver in high school, said Tuesday night that if he put the time and commitment into it, he could be a good football player.  

Former Cleveland Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge after he was accused of punching a man outside a downtown nightclub last month. Edwards was arraigned in Cleveland Municipal Court on Tuesday. The 26-year-old was traded to the New York Jets two days after he was accused of punching a friend of NBA star LeBron James on Oct.  

Browns defensive end Kenyon Coleman will miss Thursday night's game against Pittsburgh with a knee injury. Coleman started Cleveland's first 11 games at left end before hurting his knee on Nov. 29 against Cincinnati. He sat out Sunday's loss to San Diego. Robaire Smith will switch from right end to left for the second straight game.  

Browns coach Eric Mangini is confident his system is working and that he has a future in Cleveland beyond this season. With his team at 2-11 and speculation growing about his job status, Mangini believes his plan is taking root and that he'll turn around the Browns, who beat Pittsburgh 13-6 on Thursday night to end a 12-game losing streak against the Steelers.  

There's nothing Super about the Pittsburgh Steelers anymore. The defending NFL champions lost their fifth straight and had their playoff hopes thrown for a loss by the lowly Cleveland Browns, who ended a 12-game skid against their bitter rival by beating the Steelers 13-6 on Thursday night in subzero wind chills.
