I have had less and less sleep everyday lately. The kids as well. For some reason they keep staying up later and later. They won't sleep, and they are driving me crazy. Most nights lately it has been a bedtime battle, one I always lose! I am so wore out that I can't get anything done during the day. Everything is suffering! The house is a mess, and the kids main food group is chicken nuggets! Which makes me feel worse, and that doesn't help. I just need good sleep. It's like they are trying to drive me insane. The kids pick the time ... Read Full Story

They say as a toddler I was fairly dramatic. They say their nickname for me was Sarah Bernhardt . They say they used that nickname often. I should feel complimented, really. She's quite beautiful. "They" are my parents. I wonder what they would say about my daughter and her recent discovery of the gamut and depth of human emotion. My daughter, as you may know, is three. Much of the time, she is a dear, delightful child. But during the past month, a new part of her brain seems to have awoken. It is the part that helps her to feel all emotions -- ... Read Full Story

I am just not having a good day. I woke up later than I wanted to, and I was exhausted. The kids were asleep so I hoped into the shower. Only to have Christopher come in crying. I ate some cheese though, and went to work 45 minutes late. The kids didn't seem to mind me leaving, which was good and bad! ... Read Full Story

Yep, Evie has already had a homework assignment from her preschool class. She is to practice using scissors ! Something she has never done, at least at home! We even had to go buy scissors for her! I was not to thrilled about this, but knowing that it is a skill she needed to practice I got the scissors . I made multiple copies of the page the teacher sent home for practice and this morning let her practice. She needs the practice! I cringed every time she said, "Oh I cut myself!" I reminded her to be careful, and thanked God that the ... Read Full Story

This post is the story of the day Aiden way born. Like all parents, even though the day itself has been some time ago, all of the memories remain fresh, as we will never forget the birth of our children. Friday night July 20th was just another average night in our household. Our doctor had scheduled an inducement for Monday, July 23rd and we really didn't think Aidenw as going to come before then. But at about midnight things started happening. Raquel wasn't really sure that her first contractions were actual contractions, so she didn't tell me. Maybe I subconsciously knew anyway, I couldn't ... Read Full Story
It's every parent's nightmare: being separated from their young child. But this story has a happy ending. At 8:15 on Monday morning in Portland, Oregon Aaron Bailey was riding the TriMet subway with his 3-year-old son, Aiden. When they arrived at the Main Street station, Aiden got out first while holding his dad's hand. Aiden accidentally hit the handicapped exit button which malfunctioned and closed the train door, taking Aiden's father away...
