Freshmen Ralston Turner and Andre Stringer each scored 21 points as LSU defeated Northwestern State 87-78 in the opener for both teams Friday night. Austin Ross tied a career high with 10 strikeouts, and LSU scored seven two-out runs in the seventh inning for a 10-2 victory over Southern in Friday's opening game of the Baton Rouge regional.
